Clearomizer

What is a clearomizer?
Although the construction of an e-cigarette is not that complicated in principle, a number of terms are used that you do not hear every day such as clearomizer, atomizer and coil. Electronic cigarettes have changed considerably in ten years' time, and terms are regularly used interchangeably, or there are English and Dutch names for parts. On this page we explain what a clearomizer is and how an e-cigarette tank works.

What is a clearomizer?
The word "clearomizer" is a contraction of "clear" or transparent and "atomizer" or the evaporator. With the first vapor models you could not see the liquid, when the e-cigarette tank was made clear (clear) it was easier to determine the content of the tank. In addition to the disposable electronic cigarettes, more and more mods came on the market with separate parts that could be replaced or maintained separately. Modern clearomizers consist of:
- A mouthpiece (also called drip tip)
- The atomizer (top or bottom)
- The tank (also called reservoir)
Different versions
The atomizer consists of a coil with resistance wire and cotton. There are devices where the atomizers are supplied as a whole without replaceable parts, there are also dampers where each part can be replaced separately. An RBA is a ReBuildable Atomizer that you can build yourself. In addition to standard coils, it is also possible to make your own coils based on resistance wire (Kanthal) and a wick (cotton). There are still devices that are very simple with few replaceable parts. These are usually the MTL dampers. The DTL devices offer more setting options such as temperature and resistance. If you like to smoke as you used to smoke, a simple MTL damper will be the most obvious, if you want to keep more control over the amount of vapor, a DTL mod is a better choice.
